The field of blockchain gaming reached a remarkable milestone in August, hitting a reported 4.2 million daily active users, according to a recent analysis by DappRadar. Despite slipping to the second position in overall crypto sector activity due to advancements in AI, web3 gaming experienced a 5% uptick in daily unique active wallets (dUAW) last month.
Ronin Leading the Charge
Ronin continued to reign supreme in the blockchain gaming realm, boasting the highest average number of Unique Active Wallets (UAW) with a 24% increase in August, reaching 1.32 million users. Games like Pixels and Forgotten Runiverse played pivotal roles in driving this surge in activity on the platform.
opBNB and SKALE Network Making Waves
Following Ronin, opBNB emerged as the second most active network with 688,000 UAW, witnessing a 50% spike in users courtesy of games such as “SERAPH: In the Darkness” and the Gomble Games mobile platform. SKALE Network secured the third rank, logging a 10% growth in August and reaching 352,000 UAW with titles like motoDEX and World of Dypians.
Expansion of Multichain Ecosystems
KGeN led the pack of gaming applications in August with over 2.3 million UAW, offering a gaming ecosystem spanning nine blockchains and delivering rewards and gamified quests for players. BoomLand, a mobile game based on Immutable, closely followed with nearly 1.9 million UAW. Pixels rounded out the top three most played games with 1.34 million UAW.

The closed beta testing phase of the MMORPG Lumiterra on Ronin, featuring a $1 million prize pool, reported an impressive player retention rate exceeding 80% within the first seven days and a total of 728,000 UAW in August. Additionally, RootData disclosed that the blockchain gaming industry has amassed nearly $580 million in venture capital investments for 2024, positioning it as the fifth highest funded crypto sector. This figure falls just short of the total $664 million raised in the preceding year.
